Abstract
There has been considerable controversy as to the method of the treatment of dislocation of the acromioclavicular joint especially in grade III injury. We treated 37 cases of the complete dislocation of the acromioclavicular joint from Junuary
1988
to
June 1991. 20 patients were treated by operative method and 17 patients by conservative method.
The clinical results by Weaver and Dunn was evaluated in a period of 6 months and 12 months. The radiological evaluation was done after 6 months.
The mean follow up time was 1.3 years (range, 1 years to 3.2 years)
@ES The results were as follows.
1. It was shown that clinical outcome of operative and conservative treatment were similar to each other ofter 12 months.
2. Group treated conservatively yield lower rate of complication as compared with the cases of operative method.
3. The conservative treatment was proven to be a valuable method for acromioclavicular dislocation even for grade III injury in elderly or inoperable patient.
